For the week of May 5-9, 2008
Imperial Tobacco acquired Altadis, S.A. last year because the company sells a lot of cigarettes. It also sells a lot of cigars, in fact more than any other company in the world. Its unquestioned leadership in cigardom was confirmed by Imperial’s release of the full-year results for Altadis for 2007, which showed that the company’s total cigar sales reached $1.31 billion U.S. (converted from Euro). The Masters, Cigars And the Rites of Spring
One of the great stories this year at the Masters had little to do with Tiger or South African sensation Trevor Immelman. No, this story is about Miguel Angel Jimenez, who opened the Masters with a 77--practically taking himself out of contention on day one. Jimenez did pull himself together on Friday by and gutting out a 70 and miraculously making the cut.

Heard in the Humidor: Apr. 1- Apr. 4
LOS ANGELES – Joya de Nicaragua owner Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca formally has announced his company’s decision to award its American distribution rights to fellow Nicaraguan cigar maker Drew Estate.
Since deciding to end its long relationship with S.A.G.
