This Week In Cigar History June 30 - July 4
The cigar loving Arnold Schwarzenegger as the reprogrammed cyborg...made good on a threat and was BACK -- with the U.S. release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day on July 3rd 1991. Hitting movie screens seven years after the first Terminator flick, the sequel -- with its dazzling, advanced special effects -- is considered better than the original. This time, The Arnold is teleported back as the protector of future Resistance fighter John Connor against the cutting edge, liquid metal morphing cyborg T-1000, chillingly played by Robert Patrick. With the tag line "...Come with me if you want to live..." Schwarzenegger and Terminator 2 takes viewers on a heart stopping, action packed ride from start to finish. Amusingly, a cigar is featured as a key prop in an early action scene when the buck-naked Terminator strides into The Corral, a rough bikers bar. His computerized scanning of the wide-eye patrons reveals a 'match' for clothing, which impels the cyborg to unemotionally approach a menacing biker with the reasonable request: "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle." Unfortunately, the biker laughs this off with a sarcastic "You forgot to say please" and takes a long draw on his burning cigar before stubbing it out on the Terminator's chest. Feeling no pain, the hero cyborg ends up tossing the uncooperative smoker onto a sizzling kitchen grill -- in addition to other bone crunching maneuvers. The Terminator soon smoothly emerges outside the bar to the toe-tapping tune "Bad to The Bone," clad in the biker's leather outfit. This Week in Cigar History 6/30/08
