Behold, the incredible smokeless cigar.

For all those sick of being exiled outside whenever they try to light a cigarillo, a nifty piece of new tech by former stockbroker and investment banker Ron MacDonald may present a way for you to puff in peace while offering a middle-finger salute to draconian anti-smoking measures.

The tech in question is the Crown7, a battery-powered smokeless cigar that emits not an iota of pungent smoke, but nonetheless provides the puffer with that unmistakable cigar taste.

A black plastic tube that assembles in a few moments, the Crown7 contains but four innocuous ingredients: Water, propylene glycol, nicotine and a tobacco flavor, yet no actual tobacco. Which leads to the inevitable question — can you puff away at it inside? “If it doesn’t contain any tobacco, it would not be prohibited since the law was designed to protect workers and others from the harmful effects of secondhand tobacco smoke,” says Celina De Leon of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. While that doesn’t guarantee that the Crown7 is out-and-out legal, there’s a good chance that such a slim device could slip through those legal loopholes keeping you out in the rain. crown7.com
